Year-end is the best time to clear out your office or shop — and it doesn’t have to eat into your team’s time.
Every business has that one storeroom. Broken chairs, old monitors, last year’s festive decor, boxes of files nobody has opened since COVID. During the busy months, it’s easy to ignore. But when the season winds down, it’s the perfect chance to reset.
Many offices in Singapore close their books in December or March. Shops prepare for Christmas and Chinese New Year stock. Leases come up for renewal, teams shift around, and renovations get planned. All of this means one thing: stuff that needs to go.
What offices and shops usually throw out
Not sure what counts? Here’s what we see most at the end of the season:
- Old office furniture — worn-out chairs, wobbly desks, filing cabinets, partitions, sofas from the pantry
- Electronics and appliances — old printers, monitors, fridges, microwaves, water dispensers
- Shop fittings — display racks, shelves, counters, mannequins, signage
- Festive and event items — Christmas trees, CNY decor, booth setups, banners from past events
- Unsold or damaged stock — expired promo materials, packaging, end-of-line items you can’t sell
- General clutter — boxes, broken equipment, things “we might need one day” (you won’t)
If it’s taking up space and nobody uses it, it can probably go.
How to plan your clear-out in 5 simple steps
A bit of planning saves a lot of last-minute stress. Here’s how to do it without disrupting work:
- Walk through the space. Check storerooms, pantries, back-of-house areas and under desks. Make a quick list or snap photos.
- Sort into keep, sell or donate, and dispose. Get each team to tag what they no longer need. Be honest about the “maybe” pile.
- Check with your building management. Ask about loading bay access, lift booking and allowed timings. Some buildings need a few days’ notice.
- Pick a quiet day. Weekends, public holidays or after office hours work best, so your team and customers aren’t disturbed.
- Book your disposal early. December and the weeks before CNY get busy. Lock in your slot once you know your date.

FAQs for businesses
Can you collect outside office hours? Yes, we can arrange evening or weekend slots. Just let us know your building’s allowed timings.
Do you handle large quantities, like a full office clear-out? Yes. Whether it’s a few chairs or a whole floor, send us photos and we’ll plan the job with you.
Do we need to bring the items down to the loading bay? No. We’ll collect from where the items are, as long as there’s lift or stair access.
Can you take electronics and appliances? Yes, old printers, monitors, fridges and similar items are fine. Tell us what you have when you ask for a quote.
How early should we book for December or CNY? The earlier the better. These are our busiest periods, so we recommend booking at least a week or two ahead.
